For the past 11 years, Mondello Ristorante has been an institution in the Streetsville community. We sat down with General Manager Bence Csuka and he gave us the inside scoop on what it takes to be such an iconic Streetsville restaurant. He says the key is being involved within the community as much as possible, if you open your doors and arms to them, they will welcome you right back. It’s about getting to know your neighbors, whether they are residents or other small businesses and fostering meaningful relationships where people can feel comfortable with each other. For Mondello especially, it was all about putting their heart into every dish they make, the staff are all part of the Mondello family and once you eat there you will be too. Their mentality is that if one business does well, they all do well because they are there to support one another and work together to make Streetsville a destination for people who love good food and a great atmosphere.
Mondello Ristorante is always looking to grow and diversify their menu offerings with new dishes that appeal to a wide range of preferences and palets. They have already begun to delve into this with their Taste of Mondello promotion which usually happens over the course of a month, with menu changes every 2 weeks. There is a 3-course prix fixe menu offered to guests, complete with wine and cocktail pairings for about $50 all together. It’s special events like these that give regular customers the chance to try something different, as well as bring in new customers who may not have been to Mondello before. They have found that there is an increase of younger diners coming into their restaurant, as Mondello is an ideal date night location. Their friendly and knowledgeable staff are always accommodating to the unique needs of each individual and are more than happy to educate and recommend menu items. Manager Bence stated that younger patrons should not be scared to come into a more upscale restaurant and ask questions, because if you don’t ask you’ll never know. Mondello’s encourages that their diners take away not only a good dining experience, but also a learning one with information that they can carry with them to other establishments.
