4. Bramford-Goheen House (1875)
Bramford-Goheen House
292 Queen Street South
The Bamford family, including brothers William, John and Charles, owned a lot of property in the vicinity of Princess and Queen Streets, and this house is believed to have been built by Christopher Bramford shortly after the first of the land was acquired in the 1870s. With a tradition of carpentry in the family, the Bramford brothers are also said to have built the Robinson-Bray House and the tower addition to Trinity Anglican Church. The Bramford-Goheen house is an excellent example of High Victorian Eclecticism featuring handsomely carved woodwork in the gables and around the veranda. Note also the wood siding that has been notched to look like stonework.
